This piece was beautiful, but needed an update. Sometimes with older hutches, it can be a huge update to just take the doors off (or I'll add chicken wire and take out the glass). Here I took them off completely and painted the interior and exterior in General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk Paint.
I love finding these antique dressers in excellent condition like this one was! I used a milk paint called Junque paint in barn red for this piece. It sold in 1 day!
One of my favorite looks by far is the Farmhouse look. Antique White with a dark stained top like this dresser finish. Also, I'm convinced this is the heaviest dresser in the world! This is the real thing when it comes to real wood. They just don't make furniture the same way they used to. This piece was sanded down (on top), painted in General Finishes Antique White on base and stained in their Java Gel Stain on top. Then it was distressed and sealed. One of my favorite pieces! Love the legs!
This was a custom piece I bought and repainted for a friend's daughter who was heading off to college. She needed a desk/ vanity for her new dorm room. This turned out perfect and was her exact style. For me, it was a challenge painting over white with a black glaze. Custom work pushes you out of your comfort zone and into someone else's vision. It's the good kind of challenge in painting. For this piece I used Wise Owl's Limestone and Black Glaze.
